Franklin County VA is located in southwestern Virginia. Its county seat is Rocky Mount. It is a county of contrasts between the flat portions of the east and the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains to its west. Approximately 57,000 people live on 692 square miles of land. They farm or work in construction and furniture and textiles production. Their children attend one of 13 elementary schools, four middle schools and two high schools. For higher education, these students attend Patrick Henry Community College, Virginia Western Community College or National College-Salem.
